American Blind Idol

The American Idol Experience

Tonight’s Idol is the final three. Three rounds of songs, with unfortunately, judges comments in between. My analysis of the rounds goes as follows…

Round 1 has Phillip Phillips killing it with the judges going nuts over Joshua…again.

Round 2 has Jessica Sanchez doing a beautiful job with the judges going nuts over Joshua…again.

Round 3 has Jessica and Phillip singing strong renditions of their songs with the judges going nuts over Joshua…Again.

Why the judges push Joshua so hard is beyond me. He has a pleasant voice until he goes to the high range when he sounds like he is screeching. Yes, he sounds like a banshee screeching. His third song was awful and Randy still goes nuts over him…Can you say “Man Crush”.

Gotta Brag…

Academic

My son, Jason, graduated from college this past Friday night with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.  His mother and I cannot express how proud we are of this accomplishment.  A college degree means a lot of things but foremost it shows a desire to commit to a goal, working hard toward that goal and reaching out to grab it at the end.

Congratulations son!!!

Fellowship of a Ring

Man with metal detector on the Brighton Beach.

Tonight, I received a call on my answering machine, begging me to help and to call her back.  Well, with much confusion I wondered “what kind of help”, “who was this person” and “should I call her back”.  About 10 minutes later, I get a frantic call from a lady spilling a story about her loosing her dearly departed mother’s ring.  Ah, now it make sense!

I receive occasional calls from folks due to my hobby of metal detecting.  I’ve been detecting for almost 15 year and in that time I have returned 10 to 12 lost pieces of jewelry.  Most cases the loss was in their yard but occasionally the location can be more exotic (those stories later).

Tonight’s adventure was a ring that was lost in a back yard while throwing a ball to her dog.  After arriving, I was directed to the back yard at which time I began all the normal questions…”Where were you standing”, “Demonstrate how you threw the ball”, “Did you hear it bounce or land”, etc…

After searching the grass in the direction of the throw without any luck, I began to wonder if it had landed in the bushes to the right or left.  Before going there, I decided to check the area closer to where our friend was standing.  It was a brick path with dirt and bushes on either side.  As I began to place my coil in the area to the right, low and behold there was the ring setting nice and pretty on a dirt patch under the arched growth of a plant.

Needless to say, the lady was very happy and gave me a great big hug.  When offered a reward, I declined and explained that this was my way of giving back to those that have given to me.
